Nurses for Safe Renewable Power

Looking for a healthy environment for everyone

Health Minister Deb Mathews thanks nurses

The RNAO has released a letter from Health Minister Deb Mathews, thanking nurses for their contribution to Ontario.

The letter is here: http://nursingweek.rnao.ca/sites/nursingweek/files/Minister%27s%20Nursing%20Week%20Letter%20-%20EN.pdf

You’re welcome, Minister.

But here’s the thing: right now in Ontario, your government is pushing construction of huge, environmental-noise and vibration producing industrial-scale wind power generators. These machines do produce environmental noise and vibration, and they are making a significant portion of people exposed to the noise sick.

You know about this, and you’re not doing anything about it.

Well, we will. You just commented that we dedicate our careers to improving the health of the people of Ontario…so we’re just going to keep on doing that, no matter what “green spin” you put on this horrific program.

Recently, a group of nurses asked their professional association to vote to support more health research in this area, proper clinical research (that could be done by nurses) into the environmental noise produced by the turbines … but a number of funny things happened on the way to that vote.

And what happened? Now, more people than ever are talking about this, and that’s a good thing.

For the health of the people of Ontario. A healthy environment for ALL.
