RNAO new policy looks a lot like the old one

The evening before Queens Park Day, RNAO staff talked about the policy on renewable energy. We don’t have the document yet but according to a member who was there, the organization:

-is against nuclear and coal (they seem unaware that Ontario is now using coal for less than 10% of its power)

-says the Chief Medical Officer of Health’s 2010 report shows there are no health problems

-no reason to halt wind projects

This completely ignores evidence on health effects and the Environmental Review Tribunal decision that the turbine noise can cause harm.

As soon as we see the document, we’ll comment but for now, we’ll just say this is extremely disappointing. And remarkably familiar: right out of the Ontario government’s playbook.
